Dr. Jessica Law DVM, DABVP (Swine Health Management)

Owner, Swine Veterinarian

Dr. Jessica Law graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary. She joined Prairie Livestock Veterinarians (previously Prairie Swine Health Services) after graduation to pursue production animal medicine. In 2024 Dr. Jessica passed her board certification exams in Swine Health Management. She is only the second practicing veterinarian with this certification in Canada and is one of twenty diplomates with this certification in North America.

In 2020, Dr. Jessica won the young veterinarian of the year award. She has been the president of both the Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians, the Western Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians and the Chair of the Food Animal Committee for the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.

In practice, Dr. Jessica enjoys working to improve herd health and performance through preventative herd health programs, reproduction, biosecurity, welfare assessments, as well as disease investigations. Her passions lie in pathology, epidemiology and swine reproduction. She also works as a guest speaker at the University of Calgary teaching future swine and poultry veterinarians.

Dr. Egan Brockhoff DVM

Swine Veterinarian

A well-known industry communicator and a strong advocate of agriculture and agribusiness, Egan is a long-standing partner in Prairie Livestock Veterinarians. He is graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He and his family operate a third generation mixed farm in central Alberta. Egan is also the acting National Animal Health Coordinator for the Canadian Pork Council. Among numerous awards and recognitions, he was the recipient of the 2014 Alberta Pork Congress Industry Ambassador Award. He has served in numerous professional and industry leadership roles includes including as president of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (2014-15).

Dr. Teryn Girard DVM, MSC

Poultry Veterinarian – Currently on maternity leave

Dr. Teryn attended the University of Alberta where she received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Poultry Ethology, with application to animal welfare. Dr. Teryn then completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary where she was elected class valedictorian.

Dr. Teryn has won numerous teaching awards and industry awards such as the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Teaching Award, Canadian Veterinary Medicine Leadership award, and Canadian Poultry Top 4 under 40. In 2023, Dr. Teryn was named Young Veterinarian of the Year by the ABVMA.

In addition to performing poultry veterinary medicine, Dr. Teryn enjoys presenting at poultry conference and small flock workshops; in addition to teaching at both the University of Calgary and University of Alberta.

Dr. Rienske Mortier DVM, PHD

Swine Veterinarian

Dr. Rienske graduated from vet school in 2008, from Ghent University in Belgium. She did her PhD at the University of Calgary on dairy cows. After finishing her PhD, she worked in small animal practice for 5 years. Missing food animal practice, she became enamored with the swine industry and has been involved since 2021. In 2025, Dr. Rienske won the Alberta Pork Rising Star Award.

Dr. Jenny Nicholds DVM, MAM, ACPV

Poultry Veterinarian

Dr. Jenny Nicholds is a poultry veterinarian and educator who joined the Prairie Livestock Veterinarians (PLV) team full-time in Saskatchewan in the fall of 2025. She previously served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Avian Medicine and Director of the Diagnostic Laboratory at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center, University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Nicholds brings a wealth of expertise in poultry health, with professional interests including parasitology and metabolic disease. She is a two-time recipient of the American Association of Avian Pathologists’ award for Best Field Case/Diagnostic Report (2017 and 2018), recognizing her outstanding contributions to field diagnostics.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Nicholds and her husband are restoring a vintage Airstream trailer. A former triathlete, she transitioned to distance running during the pandemic and has since completed eight half marathons and one full marathon.

Dr. Frank Marshall DVM

Swine & Poultry Veterinarian

Dr. Marshall graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Following graduation, Dr. Marshall worked in a mixed animal clinic in Camrose, Alberta, and was tasked with developing the Swine side of the practice.  Following a CIDA international project in China in 1994-95 integrating Canadian Lean Swine breeds into the Chinese industry, Dr. Marshall started his own practice in 1995 with total focus on swine health and production management, and has been working within the field for the last 40+ years. He has worked with Multinational Swine Breeding companies, Canadian Swine Breeding companies, integrated commercial Swine  companies, family farms and Hutterite Colonies in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Montana.

Dr. Marshall also has a long standing interest working with poultry. While working in general practice, he frequently worked with birds of all sorts, from ostrich to budgies. Now, he works with broilers, broiler breeders, table layers and turkeys and works with producers to help ensure flock health.  Dr. Marshall also specializes in Avian Export Certification.

Dr. Marshall has been honoured with awards including Alberta Governor General’s Medallion for Public Service in Agriculture (2007), the ABVMA Veterinarian of the Year (2012), and the Alberta Pork Congress Lifetime Achievement Award (2018).

During his (rare) downtime, Dr. Frank enjoys hiking, swimming, cycling, and fly fishing, and in the winter, cross country skiing. Frank has been married for 45 years to Wendy and has 3 children, and now has been blessed with 7 grandchildren. Dr. Marshall has been a part of the Camrose community for 44 years and continues to enjoy and support the Camrose area. 

Dr. Greg Dimmers DVM

Swine Veterinarian

Dr. Greg grew up on a farm near Ingersoll, Ontario where his family still have a farrow to finish hog operation and grow crops. He graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 2016 and spent time during vet school in Western Canada and Mid-West US. He is based out of our Lethbridge office.

Dr. Greg has dedicated his career to both swine and cattle. His passion for epidemiology, data and production animals is evident in his daily practice. His favorite place is being on farm and solving problems in person. Dr. Greg’s knowledge, data driven mentality and experience having grown up on a farrow to finish operation are invaluable to the Prairie team.

Dr. Hayley Bowling DVM, BSC

Swine & Poultry Veterinarian

Dr. Hayley grew up in Calgary, Alberta and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BSc. in Animal Bioscience. During her undergraduate studies, she was involved in swine and poultry research where she developed a keen interest in production animal health. 

Following graduation from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM degree, Dr. Hayley joined PLV where she practices both swine and poultry medicine. She has special interests in pathology, epidemiology, food safety, and animal welfare. She enjoys working with producers to help to their herds and flocks stay healthy, profitable, and sustainable.

When she’s not in a barn, you might find Dr. Hayley out for a walk, making pottery, or hanging out with her partner and their two fluffy cats.

Dr. Jack Krone DVM, BSC

Swine Veterinarian

Dr. Jack graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with his DVM and a BSc in Animal Bioscience. In his spare time, he likes to hike and bike and see new places with his lovely wife Megan.

Dr Jack grew up in Hampshire, England. He developed a love for animal agriculture helping his grandparents and uncle on the family beef farm, and whilst working on dairy and swine farms in New Zealand and Australia. He moved to Canada in 2015 and has recently become a Canadian Citizen. 

Dr. Chantel Caughlin DVM

Poultry Veterinarian

Dr. Chantel’s journey in the veterinary industry started in 2008 as a receptionist at small animal emergency hospital and later graduated from Olds College with an Animal Health Technology diploma in 2014. She worked for eight years as an RVT in mixed animal practice, as well as a research technician in beef and rodeo livestock welfare. Chantel was eager to continue learning and advancing her skills, so made the decision to pursue her veterinary degree, graduating from the University of Calgary in 2024. Throughout veterinary school, she developed a keen interest in poultry and built a strong relationship with Prairie Livestock Veterinarians during this time.

Dr. Chantel has a dedicated interest in poultry health and welfare and is particularly interested in the application of scientific research at the farm level. Outside of the barn, you can find her baking sourdough bread and spending time at the river with her husband and her dog, Nigel.

Dr. Meghan Brookhart DVM

Small Ruminant Veterinarian

Dr. Meghan grew up in Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2014 from St. Matthew’s School of Veterinary Medicine and clinical year in Oklahoma.

She joined PLV in September of 2024, predominantly as a small ruminant veterinarian treating both sheep and goats. Her focus is on preventative medicine that blends data and practical decision making. 

Prior to working at PLV, Dr Meghan was a mixed animal practitioner in New York and then was on faculty at Virgina-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor actives such as hiking, running, paddle boarding and gardening.

Samuel Jaimes

Poultry Technician

Samuel has over 14 years of experience in the poultry industry, specializing in commercial layers, breeders, and broilers across the full production chain. Originally from Bucaramanga, Colombia, he holds a veterinary degree from Colombia and a specialization in avian medicine from Venezuela. Now based in Alberta, Canada, Samuel is part of the PLV team as a Poultry Technician, bringing his expertise to support the local poultry industry.

Throughout his career, Samuel has worked with leading poultry companies in Colombia, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. He previously worked with Ceva Animal Health and Cargill where he managed disease prevention, diagnostics, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams in operations, nutrition, hatcheries, and integrated farms.

Outside of work, Samuel values time with his family and love spending time with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys cooking BBQ, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, traveling, exploring new cultures, reading, listening to music, and enjoying a good coffee.

Tracy Tee RVT, BSC

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Tracy grew up on dairy farm that also had beef cows and horses. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc degree in 2007 and graduated from Olds college as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2013. She has worked at Prairie Livestock Veterinarians at various times on different projects since 2014. In 2018 Tracy decided to join the team on a more permanent basis and has been working for Prairie Livestock Veterinarians ever since. 

In 2023, Tracy was named Veterinary Technologist of the Year by the ABVTA.

Nicole Coles RVT

Registered Veterinary Technologist – Currently on maternity leave

Nicole grew up on a small scale farm outside of Olds, AB. In 2015 she graduated from the Olds College as a registered veterinary technologist. She started her career in mixed animal practice. Nicole joined the PLV team full time in October 2021 and has a growing love for both the swine and poultry industries. 

Laura Archer RVT, BSA

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Laura grew up on a grain and cattle farm just outside of Mazenod, SK, where the love of animals grew. In 2017, she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science. Then in 2020, she graduated from Lakeland College as a registered veterinary technologist. She started out in an all cattle practice, then working through a small animal clinic and then research with the University of Lethbridge. Laura joined the PLV team part time as a Postmortem Technician starting in April 2024 and has since joined the team full time.  Laura enjoys animal welfare, behaviour and pathology and is excited to continue growing and expanding her knowledge and experience and be a part of such an amazing team! 

Alex Cripps

Shipping & Receiving, RVT-in-Training

Alex Cripps joined the Prairie Livestock Veterinarians team in October of 2022 when he started handling the shipping and receiving end of PLV. Prior to joining the PLV team Alex lived in New Brunswick where he was involved in dairy management, having been a herd manager in a 70 and 320 cow dairy farm.  

While not at work Alex is heavily involved in the dairy goat industry as a breeder, official judge, and current president of the Alberta Dairy Goat Association. 

Diana Lyster

Office Manager | Red Deer

Diana started with Prairie Livestock Veterinarians in 2015 she is currently the Office Manager. She brings over 10 years of experience in mixed animal practice where she has had a variety of experiences. She took her certificate with the Academy of Learning in 2004 as a Medical Office Assistant with Veterinary Specialist training and has been working in the veterinary industry ever since.

Karen Romanchuk

Office Manager | Lethbridge

Karen started with Alberta Beef Health Solutions in fall of 2020 (after 17 years with Swine Health Centre). Now, she is the office manage at Prairie Livestock Veterinarians Lethbridge location. Karen has an Ag Diploma and has worked in agriculture for 41 years in Animal Health, Feed Industry and Farm Machinery Research.

Jenn attended college to complete her Veterinary Health Care Assistant diploma. She did her practicum through Prairie Livestock Veterinarians Inc. before hiring her on full-time as an office assistant in August of 2022. She enjoys hiking in nature with her dog and hanging out with family.

Courtney Oldford

Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable

Courtney was born and raised in Newfoundland where she attended Memorial University and graduated with a Business Administration degree. Upon completion she moved to Alberta with her husband and has worked in management, sales and administration for the past 15 years. Courtney and her husband loved Alberta and decided to make it their permanent home. Courtney has two children, a nine year old boy and a six year old girl. She loves reading, baking, camping and bike rides with her family.

MIchael Beaumont BSc

Veterinary Assistant

Michael was born and raised in Calgary and graduated from the University of Calgary in 2025 with a B.Sc. in Biology, concentrating in genetics and evolution. He is passionate about animal health and is currently working to gain as much hands-on veterinary experience as possible with the goal of being accepted into the veterinary medicine program at UCalgary.

In his free time, Michael enjoys staying active through the gym, hiking, and playing sports like volleyball, basketball, tennis, and disc golf. He also enjoys swimming, learning German, learning to play the guitar, brewing and bottling homemade mead, and binge-watching TV series.

Milayna Bilinsky

Office Admin Assistant | Lethbridge

Milayna grew up in Manitoba, where she grew a passion for the agricultural industry. She graduated in 2023 with a diploma in Agricultural Business.  She joined the PLV team in November of 2024 as Lethbridge’s warehouse and admin associate and also assists the poultry and swine teams wherever needed.

Hailey Jarman

Shipping & Receiving | Red Deer

Hailey grew up in Ontario where she spent most of her life until moving to Alberta. She joined our team in September of 2023 shipping and receiving in the warehouse as well as doing our poultry reports. She loves spending time with family, friends, and especially her dog!

Jason Brehm

Warehouse Associate | Red Deer

Jason was born in Lethbridge and grew up in Red Deer after moving here as a child. 
He joined our team in March 2025 as warehouse staff and handles shipping, receiving, stocking,
and many other warehouse duties. He loves to play the guitar and to create art but loves his cats even more!
